Today we began our Spanish adventure - or rather our Catalonian adventure!
We traveled from both sides of the Atlantic, some flying from the USA, others traveling by TGV (high speed train) from Paris after an early morning start.
Once everyone had arrived in Barcelona we 'rendezvoused' at our hotel & headed into the heart of this colorful city to begin exploring. Our short introductory walking tour took us along part of the famous Ramblas & through Placa Real.
One the Ramblas we had a chance to enjoy the atmosphere & see some of the creative street performers & artists.
Our welcome dinner was at the excellent La Dentelliere, a small French-Spanish restaurant in the Old Town. Our menu included such local delicacies as paella & Spanish tortilla with more recognizable fare like salads & beef steak.
We ended our evening with a stroll through the back streets to the metro, after which some retired to bed & others stayed in town to explore longer.
